Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Club notes - April 7

Curry County Association of Educational Retirees

The April 2 program was presented by Officer David Sandoval, representing the Clovis Police Department.

Officer Sandoval spoke about drugs and crime in our community, specifically marijuana and fentanyl.

According to Mr. Sandoval, Fentanyl use in our community is not a great problem with young people, but is increasing among high schoolers and adults.

Use of drugs has impacted businesses because people don’t want to work. Many questions were taken from the floor following Officer Sandoval’s outstanding presentation.

CCAER meets the first Tuesday of the month at K-Bob’s Restaurant at 11 a.m. for lunch; 11:30 a.m. for the meeting. Our next meeting will be held May 7, when where the Parkview Steppers will perform.
