'Fabulous weekend' for Music Festival

The annual Clovis Music Festival produced "lots of positive feedback on social media" and "those who came out had a great time," according to Robyn Snowberger, who helped organize the event.

"We had people who were there for all three nights," said Ernie Kos, executive director of the Clovis-Curry County Chamber of Commerce. "There were a lot of out of towners in their RVs. There were people from Albuquerque, Roswell, Las Cruces, Lubbock and Amarillo."

One of Saturday night's acts, Bowling for Soup, was a particular highlight of the three-night run, Kos said.

"This was their first time in New Mexico. They were easy to work with, entertaining and crowd pleasing," Kos said.

"An interesting moment was one of the members of the band is cousin to Peggy Ingram of Clovis. Saturday night was the first time they've met," Kos said.

Snowberger said she was pleased with attendance overall.

"Our attendance all three nights was good. It was a little less than last year. Over all three nights we had about 2,700 attendees," Snowberger said.

Snowberger said there was "a lot going on in other parts of the region," competing with Clovis' entertainment.

"Within 100 miles of us Willie Nelson was in concert in Lubbock, Dwight Yoakam had a concert in Ruidoso, there was prom in Portales, there was a lot going on," Snowberger said.

Snowberger and Kos said it's too soon to decide whether this year's three-night event will be back next year.

"She just gave birth to a 10-pound baby, and now you're asking her when she's going to give birth to another one," Kos said of Snowberger's future Festival plans.

"It depends," Snowberger said. "Last year we did two nights. The only reason we did three this year was we had an opportunity to book the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular. That show was unbelievable, the music was great."

"I do know our goal is to keep it in the springtime. The April time frame is good and it seems to be good for the entertainers," Snowberger said.

Snowberger said there was a "record" number of sponsors for the event and Kos declared overall it was "a fabulous weekend."
