ENMU thinclads end regular year

LUBBOCK – Eastern New Mexico University’s track squads completed the outdoor regular season portion of their schedule on Friday, competing in Texas Tech’s Corky/Crofoot Shootout.

The Greyhounds have this week off from competition before taking part in the Lone Star Conference championships May 9-11 at Angelo State.

Junior Timothy Frederick posted the highest finish for the ENMU men, placing sixth out of 60 runners in the 200 with a time of 20.86 seconds. Meantime, sophomore Noe Ybaben-Burciaga was seventh in shot put at 46-5 ½ and freshman Devin Gallegos came in eighth in javelin at 153-8.

Ybaben-Burciaga currently ranks seventh in the LSC in shot put. Meantime, freshman Jamoi Jackson did not place in the top eight in the 400, but his time of 47.55 seconds was a personal best and an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.

On the women’s side, freshman Grizell Scarlett was fourth out of 47 runners in the 100 in 11.31 seconds. She currently has the fastest time in the event this spring in the LSC and ranks No. 3 in Division II.

Sophomore Kennedy Ulmer notched third place in her section of javelin competition with a throw of 136-4, and placed fourth in discus at 151-0. With her throw in discus, she has now earned Division II provisional marks in both events and ranks in the top 30 in D-II in both.

Senior Tamia Smith added a seventh-place finish in hammer throw with an effort of 152-8.
