James "Mike" McCully

August 9, 1958 - May 12, 2024

James "Mike" McCully, 65, from Woodburn Oregon, passed away on May 12, 2024 after a brave fight against cancer.

Mike was born on August 9, 1958 in Crane Texas. He graduated from Farwell High School in 1976 and went on to attend two years of school at West Texas A&M. He returned to the fields of Texas and New Mexico where he farmed for over 30 years, growing everything from corn to cotton. Mike was very active in his home church in Clovis New Mexico as the head usher, as well as an intimidating 42 domino player, and a devoted supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.

In 2009, Mike married Marilyn Lahue, and three years later retired from farming to move to Oregon. Mike worked for many years as a groundskeeper for the Woodburn School District where he loved working outside. He also discovered his absolute passion for golf in Oregon. Mike could be found most weekends, with Marilyn, at Evergreen Golf Course in Mt. Angel, constantly improving his game. Mike loved life in Oregon with the milder winters, green grass, and constant rain, but always thought of New Mexico as his home.

Mike is survived by his wife, Marilyn, stepsons Mikel and Joe McDaniel, grandchildren Sofie and Hugo, mother Kay Hagler, brother Phillip Hagler and wife Janet and their children Paden and Tiffany, sister Sherri McCain and

her children Brittani Snapp and Baili McCain, 9 great nieces and nephews, and countless extended family members and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his brother Terri McCully, grandparents Fennie and Mildred Conklin, Nora Miller, Stepfather William Wayne Hagler and cousin Dwayne Miller.
