Regional tornado warnings expire

Tornado warnings across eastern New Mexico expired at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, but the National Weather Service was predicting heavy rain, high winds and large hail could plague the area until midnight or later.

Tornado sirens were activated in Clovis and Portales, but no touchdowns were reported in either community. NWS reported multiple sightings of wall clouds with rotation, but it wasn't clear if tornadoes actually touched down anywhere in the region.

Cannon Air Force Base reported hail the size of tennis balls and rain was reported across the region into the Texas Panhandle.
