Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Seth Martin on Tuesday won another term as Curry County District 4 commissioner, while former Roosevelt County Sheriff Malin Parker won a four-way race for a seat on the Roosevelt County Commission.
And in the three-way race for state Senate in District 27, Pat Boone appears to have defeated Greg Nibert by 101 votes.
All local county results are unofficial, pending the state canvassing board approval on June 25.
Martin finished with 216 votes to 165 for challenger Jamie Widner, a former Melrose school superintendent.
Parker had 268 votes to 158 for August Cooper, 100 for James Hamilton and 39 for Jarryd Burris.
In the state Senate race, Boone had 2,442 votes to 2,341 for Nibert, who was appointed to the position by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham following the retirement of Portales' Stuart Ingle. Larry Marker was a distant third with 868 votes.
If the vote totals stand, Boone can credit his home county of Roosevelt, which cast 1,367 votes his direction to just 387 for Nibert.
Boone also carried Lea, De Baca and Curry counties. Nibert easily won his home county of Chaves, 1,768 votes to 618 for Boone.
We'll have more information in Sunday's newspaper.
