Blanche Roberta Lansford, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, at The Bee Hive in Clovis, New Mexico. She was born in Canon City, Colorado to James T. Elmore and Blanche E. (Hargrove) Elmore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Lynn Lansford; her parents; one brother, Jim Elmore; one sister, Audrey Leslie and a daughter, Carol Denise.
Roberta graduated from Clovis High School. After graduation, she went to work for AT&T, where she met her future husband, Lynn Lanford. After several years, she decided to go to college in order to be a math teacher. Roberta earned both a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She taught various levels of mathematics at Clovis High School for her entire career as an educator.
She was dedicated to her students, often meeting them before and after normal school hours to give further instruction and encouragement. In addition, she was very faithful in service to the Lord Jesus Christ at Kingswood Methodist Church in many ways for about 50 years. She taught Sunday school classes and made communion bread for many years.
Roberta is survived by her two sons, Mark (Phyllis) and David (Debbie), both of Clovis; her grandchildren, Mathew, Micah, Marissa, Miles, and Joshua; and eight great-grandchildren, Raegan, Reese, Graham, Aubrey, Ella, Charlie, Brynlee and Houston; as well as nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Kingswood Methodist Church on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
