Obituary: Jackie "Jack" Duane Whitfield

June 2, 1943 - May 6, 2024

Jackie "Jack" Duane Whitfield, age 80, a lifetime resident of Clovis, NM passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, 11:00 am at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton Street with Pastor Wayne Boydston officiating.

Jack was born on June 2, 1943, to Newt and Jesse Irlene Whitfield in Clovis, NM. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1961. Following graduation, he worked at his father's machine shop. While working on an irrigation well at Fields farm, he met the love of his life, Donna Lee Fields; they were married for 60 years. He was literally a Jack-of-All trades. He worked as a machinist for the ATSF railroad, owned his own plumbing and construction business, and worked in the facilities department at the Clovis High Plains hospital until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, playing a game of 42 Dominos, watching Nascar and in his younger years, square dancing. Jack loved spending time with his family and especially treasured the moments with his grandchildren. Papa especially treasured the moments he had with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his spouse, Donna (Fields) Whitfield of the home; three children, Randall (Amy) Whitfield, of Albuquerque, NM, Jacque Whittle of Clovis, NM, and Pam Caro of Centennial, CO; one sister, Janice (Don) Hirst of Leland, NC; six grandchildren, Virginia Anne Whitfield, Charles Whittle, Sydney Caro, Miah Caro, Jessica Whitfield, and Josh Lunning and his four-legged best friend, Lucy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Newt and Jesse Irlene Whitfield; two brothers Billy Whitfield and Jerry Whitfield.
