Obituary: Lilly Mearl Thomas

Lilly Mearl Thomas, 71, passed away on June 6, 2024, at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 29 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Embassy, 311 E. 1st St., Clovis, NM, 88101.

Mearl was born December 3, 1952, to Willie and Roxie (Williams) Ennis in Ada, OK.

Mearl was raised in Tucumcari. She ran track, played volleyball, and danced on the drill team. She married Joe Thomas on February 15, 1970. They moved to Clovis in 1972 where Mearl worked at Doc Stewart Chevrolet, Western Bank, and owned the Thrifty Nickel. She was a lover of animals and music and enjoyed volunteering in her community.

Survivors include her children, T'Mara (Kerry) Parker, Brandi Thomas, Kim Tipton (Lorenzo Escobedo), Cody Spitz, and Misty Ponce; god daughter, Holly (Eli) Sukol; brothers, A.W. Ennis, Johnny Ennis, and Coy Ennis (Wynoka); sisters, Bobbie (Gary) Lawrence, and Johnlyn K. Grose; grandchildren, Wyatt Gage Parker, and Samuel Payte Parker; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and 3 loving fur babies: Milo, Toby Tucker, and Tyson.

Mearl is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thomas, her sister, Darlene Langford, and her brother Lemond Ennis.

The family requests a donation to the Hillcrest Park Zoo, 1208 N. Norris St., Clovis, NM 88101, instead of flowers.
