CCC board hears president house renovation details

The East 21st Street house used by the president of Clovis Community College is having renovations done in time for the arrival of the college’s new top administrator.

Details of the renovations were shared with CCC’s Board of Trustees at their regular June meeting on Wednesday.

Bob Dart, CCC’s interim vice president of Internet Technology and Operations, outlined the work being done:

• Interior repainting.

• Exterior repainting.

• Replacing hinges on cabinetry.

“The roof was damaged in last year’s hail storm so insurance is covering the replacement,” Dart said.

Dart said the property features an “outdoor kitchen” and is in need of a new cover, which will be put to bid in the next fiscal year.

“The old carpet was ripped up and is being replaced by “cappuccino colored” laminate tile, Dart said.

After the meeting, Dart described the work on the president’s house as what was needed after “typical wear and tear.”

He said much of the work will be done in time for the arrival of new President Jonathan Fuentes and his family in about a month.

Interim CCC President Robin Jones told the board that she and Fuentes have been emailing each other and she anticipates a smooth transition between the two.

Other business conducted by the trustees:

n Approval of changes to the college’s 2024-25 catalog.

n Emeritus status granted to the recently retired administrator Norman Kia.

n Approval of the upcoming trustees meetings calendar.

n Renewal of the contract for the college’s cleaning service, Clean Team.

Jones told trustees about a “Town Hall” visit planned by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on July 8.

Jones said the governor will also visit Eastern New Mexico University around the same time.

CCC trustees are set to meet again at 8 a.m., Aug. 7 in the college’s room 512.
