Yard contest to promote 'pride of ownership'

Residents and businesses can show off their outdoor spaces at the city of Clovis’ annual summer yard contest. 

The competition serves to promote “pride of ownership in our properties, which, in turn, improves the appearance of our community and acts as an economic development incentive for people and businesses looking to relocate to Clovis,” according to a city news release.

To nominate a resident or business for the Yard of the Summer Contest, submit a short online form via the City’s website at http://www.cityofclovis.org/summer .

Nomination period is open until 3 p.m. July 12. The public will be allowed to vote for their favorite yards from July 15-26 within the following categories: 

• One residence from each of the four Commission districts.

• One xeriscaped residence from each of the four Commission districts.

• One business among all districts.

• One xeriscaped business among all districts.

Votes can be cast on the city’s website and Facebook page. 

Winners will be recognized during the Aug. 5 city commission meeting.
