Ask the News - June 30

I just learned that Allsup’s headquarters is no longer in Clovis. I knew the company was sold several years ago. I was curious how many local HQ employees were laid off. Just personal curiosity.

Allsup’s was purchased by the now Fort Worth-based convenience store chain Yesway in 2019.

Yesway officials last week did not respond to The News.

But an August 2020 article in The News reported the closure of Allsup’s headquarters on Thornton Street in Clovis.

The closure was expected to result in 201 positions at the former headquarters laid off or transferred, The News reported.

Yesway Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Trkla said at the time that Allsup’s had 1,981 employees, including the 201 based out of the Clovis office.

“We are supporting those employees who will not make the move to our new Fort Worth headquarters, many of whom were offered the opportunity to do so and declined due to personal reasons, with career outplacement assistance to help them find their next opportunity,” Trkla said.
