Roosevelt County has scheduled a special meeting for 10 a.m. Monday to begin the process of hiring a new county manager, officials said.
Current Manager Amber Hamilton announced last month she will resign effective July 26.
Monday’s meeting, to be held in executive session, will take place in the administrative conference room at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
“Any action necessary as a result of the closed executive session” is also on the agenda, but County Attorney Michael Garcia said county commissioners are “just beginning the process.”
Lauren Brockman, the county’s human resources coordinator, said commissioners have received 35 applicants so far.
“The position will remain open until filled,” Brockman said. Applications received have all been provided to commissioners “to review and select candidates for interviews,” she said.
Brockman said the county has been advertising the manager position on LinkedIn, Indeed, ICMA (International County/City Manager Association), NACA (National Association of County/City Administrators), and the county’s website.
Commissioners will choose the next county manager, Garcia said, and no public interviews are planned.
In the job description on the county website, the position requires “timely accurate and sufficient information to the Board of County Commissioners; planning and preparing of meeting agendas, execution of BOCC decisions and policies, and other services in support of the duties and responsibilities of the Board.”
The job description also requires “competent, courteous and timely delivery of County services to the people of Roosevelt County.”
Pay information is not provided on the county website. Hamilton’s contract calls for a $112,000 annual salary, records show. She received a 15% pay raise in December 2022.
