Sheriff: Portales woman missing since Saturday

A Portales woman, missing since Saturday, remained missing early this week.

The case of Mary Stinnett, 58, who has early Alzheimer’s Disease, came to the attention of Roosevelt County Sheriff Javier Sanchez and his department when officers were called to a county property Saturday regarding alleged trespassers.

“They weren’t trespassers, they were members of Mary Stinnett’s family looking for her,” Sanchez said Monday.

“This is not the first time she has wandered off,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez said he notified New Mexico State Police and they have issued a “Silver Alert.”

“We have also notified the National Crime Information Center in case other law enforcement agencies encounter her,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez described Stinnett as 5 feet tall, weighing 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

“She was last seen wearing a white shirt with black stripe, pink undershirt, blue jeans and blue tennis shoes,” Sanchez said.
