ENMU awarded $490,000 by USDA

The United States Department of Agriculture has awarded a $490,000 grant to an assistant professor of agriculture at Eastern New Mexico University.

The grant goes to Kalynn Baldock, a department chair, with a sub-award to New Mexico State University’s William Norris.

An ENMU news release reports the grant focuses on agricultural science teachers’ industry-aligned education and development.

“I am excited for this opportunity to work with agricultural educators throughout New Mexico,” Baldock said.

“The grant will allow us to partner with businesses in various agricultural industries to enable educators to gain skills they can incorporate into their classrooms.”

Lasting four years, there will be 40 participants over the project’s life.

Areas of study include immersive animal science experience, agricultural power and technology, welding, and plant science, according to the news release.
