Golden Acres housing without water until 4 p.m.

The city of Portales will have water shut off until about 4 p.m. today to repair a leak in an isolation valve on the city side of the meter at the Golden Acres housing.

During the maintenance, water service will be unavailable to the area and some surrounding areas, according to Chris Mendoza, utilities superintendent.

“We recommend that you store enough water for your needs during the outage,” as stated in the public notice. “Once the maintenance is completed, there may be a brief period of discolored water or air in the pipes. Running your cold tap for a few minutes should help clear this up.”
