Curry County Fair schedule

The Curry County Fair opens its gates to the public Tuesday through Saturday this week. Here’s the schedule of events:

Monday

• Fair entry day – 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Curry County Fairgrounds, 1900 E. Brady Ave., Clovis. Information: http://www.curryeventscenter.com/fair

Tuesday

• Food Bank Night – Admission: Adults (13-59) $7 daily, $18 weekly; seniors (60 and up) $6 daily, $15 weekly; kids (ages 5-12) $3 daily, $8 weekly; military $5 daily, $12 weekly; children 4 and under are free.

• 9 a.m. – county-bred swine show; 9:30 a.m. – rabbit show; 4 p.m. - ag building exhibits, home arts exhibits, commercial barn exhibits open; 4:30 p.m. – booster swine show; 5 p.m. – market swine show.

• Carnival open from 4 p.m.-midnight; wristbands $25 with two cans of food; $40 without food donation.

• Curry County High Plains Pioneer Museum grand opening – 2:30 p.m., (Enter off Brady Avenue by the Old House.) Information: Kaitlin Bentley at  575-763-6016, Ext. 114

Wednesday

• Military Appreciation Night – 8:30 a.m. – booster dairy show; 9 a.m. – dairy cattle show; 4 p.m. - ag building exhibits, home arts exhibits, commercial barn exhibits open; 4 p.m. – free hamburger meal for all active duty and retired military served in front of the Oldest House; 4 p.m. – booster goat show; 4:30 p.m. – market goat show; 5:30 p.m. – booster lamb show; 6 p.m. – market lamb show.

• Carnival open from 4 p.m.-midnight

 

Thursday

• Hispanic Heritage Night – 9 a.m. – wether dam/wether doe followed by county-bred lamb show; 4 p.m. - ag building exhibits, home arts exhibits, commercial barn exhibits open; 4 p.m. – production steer show; 5:30 p.m. – county-bred beef show, followed by breeding beef and market beef shows; 6 p.m. – salsa making contest; 6 p.m. – Little Buckaroo Rodeo;

• 7:30 p.m. - concert featuring A.J. Castillo and special guest Jaime DeAnda.

• Carnival open from 4 p.m.-midnight with $25 wristbands.

• Special Needs Day – 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Activities for participants, families, and caregivers. Lunch served from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tour of fairgrounds, select carnival rides, live entertainment. Information: Lexie Myers at 575-762-4246

Friday

• 5 p.m. – Mutton Bustin’ Challenge; 6 p.m. – junior livestock sale dinner followed by junior livestock sale; 6 p.m. – 3rd annual Curry County Battle of the Bands; 7 p.m. – Renegade Rodeo.

• 7:30 p.m. – Josh Abbott Band in concert.

• Carnival open from 4 p.m.-midnight with $40 wristbands.

Saturday

• 9-10:30 a.m. – Great American Turtle Race; 9:30 a.m.-noon – Old Timers’ Day celebration (including lunch) for ages 50 and up; 11 a.m.-noon – youth day events;

• Southwest Cheese Moo-ve It Truck Pull – 10 a.m.-noon, parking lot, Curry County Events Center

• 2 p.m. – Little Miss Curry County Fair pageant; 4 p.m. – Mutton Bustin’ Challenge; 5 p.m. – Renegade Rodeo.

• Carnival open noon-midnight with $40 wristbands.
