Community invited to St. Helen fiesta on weekend

St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales will host its annual fiesta this Saturday and Sunday.

“We invite the whole community to come join us this weekend. We will have entertainment, fun, games, and excellent food for the whole family,” said John Houser, co-chair of the fiesta committee, in a news release.

Live music will be featured throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday at the gazebo at the center of the church courtyard. Games “for kids of all ages” are scheduled, including a dunk tank.

Participants can win tokens they can redeem for various prizes at the church prize room.

“The ever-popular Navajo tacos will be for sale in the parish hall, and various other delicious foods will be available throughout the weekend,” the release stated.

Other events happening over the weekend include a car show on Saturday, a dance Saturday night featuring a live DJ and a cornhole tournament.

The fiesta culminates on Sunday with raffle drawings. St. Helen has over 20 prize packages.

The church is at 1600 S. Ave. O in Portales.
