Cannon to host 9/11 remembrance ceremony

The 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base on Wednesday will host a remembrance ceremony honoring the 2,977 civilians and first responders who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The event will take place at the Cannon AFB Fire Station, according to a Cannon news release. The opening ceremony will begin promptly at 6:46 a.m., the exact time when the first plane struck the North Tower 23 years ago. Immediately following the ceremony, a 5K run and Memorial Stair Climb will occur simultaneously.

Cannon will livestream the event on its Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CannonAirForceBase, and Curry County will share the stream to the Curry County Facebook page for the public to view.
