Plea deal results in 8-year sentence

A Clovis man this month was sentenced to eight years in prison for disarming a peace officer and battery on a peace officer, according to a news release from the district attorney’s office.

Jose Villalta, 25, was accused of hitting an officer in the face and grabbing another officer’s taser during a domestic dispute on Nov. 22, 2023.

Villalta, who reached a plea agreement earlier this year, will have to serve a two-year parole period upon his release from prison, according to DA Quentin Ray.
