A train crash near Portales on Wednesday morning sent occupants of a vehicle to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, according to BNSF.
Railway spokesperson Kendall Sloan told The News the crash happened about 7 a.m. "(A) train struck an occupied vehicle at a crossing ... There were no injuries to the crew," Sloan also stated in an email.
The crash blocked most of the city's railroad traffic crossings for about two hours.
Sloan said no train cars were derailed in the incident and trains were on the move again by 9:30 a.m.
BNSF stated the crossing where the crash occurred is equipped with crossbucks.
