Fire strikes Portales treatment plant

A fire broke out Sunday at Portales’ wastewater treatment plant, according to a news release from City Manager Chris Moyer.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that a blower motor caught fire,” Moyer said in the release. “The fire was quickly put out, and at this time the damage looked minimal.”

Moyer said investigators had been called in to assess damages, but no additional information was available.
