Xcel Energy sends personnel to Georgia

Xcel Energy is sending employees from New Mexico, Texas and other states in its service region to the areas impacted by Hurricane Helene to help restore power following the devastating storm.

According to an Xcel news release, more than 100 Xcel employees left for Georgia on Thursday.

Line workers — along with safety consultants, fleet mechanics and operations leaders — will join their counterparts from other utilities across the country under the industry’s mutual assistance program. Crews are assigned to support local power companies in Georgia to restore power to customers.

Employees are expected to work in parts of Augusta, Ga., with power restoration efforts expected to last roughly two weeks.
