County receives $25k outdoor grant

Curry County has been awarded a $25,000 grant to “purchase and install picnic tables and benches created from recycled windmill turbine blades,” according to a county news release.

The Outdoor Recreation Trails+ Grant Program was created to support projects that enhance community outdoor recreation opportunities, including trail systems, handicap-accessible outdoor recreation spaces, signage, wildlife viewing areas, and more, the release stated.

“This is a unique opportunity to utilize recycled turbine blades and at the same time enhancing the Ruben E. Nieves Courtyard with picnic tables, benches and shade structures for gathering for our community in downtown,” County Manager Lance Pyle stated.
