Public meeting with EPCOR set for Portales

The city of Portales is hosting an “EPCOR Workshop”

at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Memorial Building, 200 E. Seventh St.

“I believe it is a more in-depth dive into things that… need improvement or change,” said City Manager Christopher Moyer.

“The mayor and Council want to make sure that we are transparent in our interactions with EPCOR, which is why the public is invited to attend.”

The city is considering a partnership with EPCOR to provide water services.

“I do not know how the meeting will be set up as far as if there will be a public question and answer period. I am assuming that if some of the public wants to ask questions, just like Council members, then they would be allowed,” Moyer said.

The city manager also said EPCOR officials are scheduled to meet with city staff earlier Thursday “to go over different things and have a working session on how to improve our water system infrastructure and monitoring.”
