DALLAS – Eastern New Mexico University’s volleyball team finished another long weekend on the road on Saturday, dropping a 25-12, 25-15, 25-18 Lone Star Conference decision to Dallas Baptist.

Senior outside hitter Delaney Fuller led the Patriots (12-6, 6-2 LSC), ranked 25th in NCAA Division II and the defending LSC regular-season champions, with 17 kills and five of the team’s eight aces. She collected eight of her kills in the opening set, when DBU finished with 19 as a team.

Sophomore outside hitter Karly Wells added 11 kills while senior setter Aryn Walton compiled 23 assists.

Top performers for ENMU (3-16, 0-8) were freshman setter Cayla Reyes with six digs and 13 assists and sophomore outside hitter Sophia Valdez with five kills.

In the opening set, the Patriots broke a 2-2 tie with a 6-1 run and never looked back.

A kill from Valdez put the Hounds up 4-2 in Game 2, but DBU scored the next six points. Delaney had back-to-back kills to cap a 7-3 run for a 22-12 lead.

ENMU again opened a 4-2 advantage in the third canto after a kill from senior outside hitter Darcy Dodd, but DBU again went on a 6-0 run and never relinquished the lead. ENMU was as close as 18-16 after a bad set by Delaney, but a 5-0 run put the Patriots on the brink of victory.

DBU has won its last seven meetings with the Hounds, the last four by sweep, and is 10-4 all-time in the series with 10 wins in the last 11 meetings.

The Hounds will be back in Steve Lop Family Foundation Arena for a 6 p.m. tilt on Friday against St. Mary’s an a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday against St. Edward’s.
