Three shot in Sunday violence

Three people were shot in two incidents that occurred about 10 hours apart on Sunday in Clovis.

Officials said they do not believe the shootings are related.

Adiano Gallegos, 18, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He’s accused of shooting Alex Reyna, 44, at Reyna’s house in the 700 block of South Sandoval Street about 2 p.m. Sunday. Gallegos remained at large on Tuesday morning.

Reyna told police Gallegos shot him in the stomach, court records show. Reyna was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition; he remained hospitalized Tuesday, officials said.

A witness drove Reyna to the Clovis hospital and another witness told police Gallegos ran from the house after shots were fired. A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

No arrests had been made Tuesday in an earlier Sunday incident in which two people were shot and “six to thirty gunshots” were reported in the 900 block of Plaza Drive in Clovis.

A 17-year-old male was shot in the chest and transported to a Lubbock hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said. A 24-year-old woman was shot in the face and was in stable condition at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, police said.

That shooting occurred about 4:15 a.m.

Police stated in a news release they received multiple 911 calls reporting the gunshots.

“On arrival, Officers relayed they had multiple car crashes on Plaza,” the release stated. “…Within the scene, Officers located multiple casings of varying calibers in the roadway.”
