Clovis Community College’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday approved contracts for a new addition for the nursing building, along with repaving and expanding parking.
The actions came at a special session of the board held via Zoom.
Vice President of Internet Technology & Operations Bob Dart reported two companies responded to a request for bid on the north and west parking areas and expansion of parking for welding students.
“We are doing a small section of parking lot on the north side of the main campus and the west main parking lot. In addition we are adding a section of parking on the north side of the welding lab to accommodate the additional students now in that program,” Dart wrote in an email after the meeting.
Cost of the project is $266,000.
A low bid of $2.743 million was awarded to WWRC Complete Construction Services of Clovis for expansion in the campus’ nursing building.
“The Allied Health Nursing expansion project will be on the north end of the Sisler Building,” Dart wrote.
Dart noted the request for proposal for this project consisted of a base bid of a new simulation lab space providing an additional four patient rooms and associated support space, and an added alternate of an additional classroom.
“Due to pricing and budget constraints we were not able to realize the added classroom space. The simulation space was the primary objective of this project though,” Dart wrote.
The only other matter on the special session agenda was approval of the annual renewal of CCC’s annual contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield providing health insurance benefits for college employees.
Trustees are scheduled to meet for their regular November session at 8 a.m. Wednesday, in room 512 at the college.
