Stealing political signs wrong

I am reaching out to everyone today as a fellow citizen and neighbor to ask that you do not deface or steal political signs.

Activity such as these needs to stop as those signs represent more than just support for a political candidate, but values and beliefs that are the cornerstone of people’s lives.

Although you may disagree with some policies, personalities, or partisanship of the person on the sign this does not give you the right to steal from a fellow citizen that is practicing the same freedom of speech that is afforded to us by this great country.

Political signs are representative of the hard work that not many of us see outside the political world. The journey that sign took to end up proudly displayed in someone’s yard or place of business is one that took countless hours and efforts of many to accomplish.

Furthermore, the person that is displaying their sign often had to work hard for the money to purchase these signs and gave generously to support their candidate and their own beliefs to spread awareness and engage in productive conversation to share what they hold most dear to their own heart.

No matter who you support, I kindly ask that you respect your neighbors and their property. Please, do not steal or deface anyone’s property and let’s unite as a city and as a county to move our little corner of America closer to a vision of respect and prosperity for all citizens of Clovis and Curry County.

Please use this same energy to go vote and don’t forget to take a few friends!
