Republican Fabian Munoz is the new Roosevelt County commissioner in District 1.
Munoz received 503 votes in Tuesday's election. Democrat Jake Lopez received 382 votes.
Lopez's son Dennis Lopez held the position the previous eight years and was not eligible to run again.
Their race was the only one contested in Curry or Roosevelt counties; the others were all decided in the primaries.
Also on Tuesday night:
Incumbent Sen. Martin Heinrich and District 3 Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez, both Democrats, are headed back to Washington.
Heinrich defeated Republican challenger Nella Domenici, 488,375 to 401,930, according to the New Mexico Secretary of State's website.
Leger Fernandez defeated Republican challenger Sharon E. Clachischilliage, 159,058 to 124,854.
All of the state's Constitutional Amendment questions passed, as did the four bond questions. The only question that appeared close was Constitutional Amendment 3. That proposal was to allow the dean of the University of New Mexico school of law to appoint a designee to the Judicial Nominating Commission. The proposal passed 51% to 49% though results are unofficial until they're canvased later this month.
In the race for New Mexico's five Electoral College votes, Democrat Kamala Harris defeated Donald Trump 52% to 46%.
