Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Clovis Community College has shown enrollment growth this year compared to last year.
The news came from CCC President Jonathan Fuentes during Wednesday’s meeting with trustees.
Fuentes reported college enrollment has grown 2.6% over this time last year.
“College students, returning college students, high school attendees all contributed. Congratulations to all of the community college,” Fuentes said.
Fuentes also reported on the statewide passage of the education bond issue in Tuesday’s election.
Fuentes reported with the passage, $2 million will be coming to CCC. Fuentes said earlier this year the money would be used to renovate and improve the cosmetology and classroom south building.
In other business:
• Trustees approved continued work on the campus building roof damaged in a strong hailstorm in May 2023. Cost will be about $2.9 million, but college Vice President of Internet Technology and Operations Bob Dart said insurance will cover most of that.
• Fuentes declared campus Halloween activities a success including a “Trunk or Treat” event and a “Pumpkin Parade” that raised $1,514 for the United Way of Eastern New Mexico.
Trustees will meet again at 8 a.m. Dec. 4 on campus in room 512.
