Two tied atop football contest

A relative newcomer picked eight of 10 games correctly last weekend to win the 11th week of the Pigskin Pick ’Em contest.

Two season-long leaders, Adam Branham and Ricky Fuentes, meanwhile head into the final round of the contest tied for first place.

Zachary Mockchew began playing in Week 8 and has correctly picked at least seven games each of the last four weeks.

He won the $50 gift card from Juanito’s Mexican Restaurant in Week 11.

The season’s final player card will publish on Sunday, Dec. 15, and feature 20 games, including NFL contests and college football bowl games.

Eleven players still have a mathematical chance to claim the $500 first prize that goes with the season’s championship.

Here are the standings:

1. Branham and Fuentes, 82; 3. Tommy Platt, 79; 4. Drew Cole, 76; 5. Bob Hill, 75; 6. Mario Castaneda, 73; 7. Joseph Cavazos and Stu Stratton, 72; 9. Sage Free and Danny Inman, 67; 11. Norma Inman, 65.

Regular-season winners are announced on radio stations KTQM (99.9 FM) and KCLV (99.1 FM) on Tuesday mornings and they’re published in Wednesday’s newspaper.

The week 12 winner and overall season winner will be announced on the radio stations on Friday, Jan. 24, and in the newspaper on Sunday, Jan. 26.

The Week 12 winner will receive a $50 gift card from Juanito’s. In the event of a tie for the season winner, the $500 will be divided equally among those tied.
