Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Roosevelt County Electric Cooperative held a ribbon cutting Monday for its new parking area, charging station and event area called The Courtyard.
It’s located next to the RCEC offices at 121 N. Main St. in downtown Portales.
The Courtyard used to be the site of Portales City Hall.
“We added 30 parking spaces that will be available for RCEC and public parking,” RCEC General Manager Eric Segovia said earlier this month.
Segovia added the parking lot will include two level-three fast-charge electric vehicle stations.
“We hope these stations will draw EV owners to downtown Portales as they pass through town where they will be able to shop and dine while they charge,” Segovia said.
Segovia noted the remainder of the property will be a courtyard that will be open to the public and available for public events through RCEC.
“The first planned event will be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony during the Christmas parade on Dec. 6,” Segovia said.
He noted the Christmas tree is donated by Western Commerce Bank.
