Sonic Restaurants reports helping Clovis schools

Four teachers from Clovis Municipal Schools were recipients of scholarships from the Sonic Foundation, a branch of Sonic Restaurants of which there are four in the Clovis/Portales area.

According to a Sonic news release, the Clovis teachers were four of 175 teachers nationwide who received scholarships in November to attend the Ron Clark Academy Experience, “a world-class, two-day educator training that occurred in Atlanta” in early November.

The teachers are Brittney Sutherland and Stephanie Ramirez from Barry Elementary School and Rita Jones and Virginia Jones from the Marshall Sixth Grade Academy.

The release reported the goal of these professional development training workshops is to “empower, uplift, and inspire the educators, equipping them with fresh ideas and renewed energy to bring back to their classrooms.”

The scholarships included hotel lodging, flights, and conference registration.

“The SONIC Foundation is dedicated to supporting public education and the needs of our teachers, and through our partnership with the Ron Clark Academy, we’ve been able to deepen that connection with educators at a time when they need inspiration and community support more than ever before,” said Stuart Brown, executive director of the Sonic Foundation.

According to the news release, Sonic has a longstanding history of supporting public education and investing in teacher development, impacting both the short-term and the long-term needs of students and schools.

The next sponsored two-day training session is scheduled March 20-21 in Atlanta. Those interested in applying can visit
