Our people: Husband, father talks about his life

Family and faith define Bryan Davis.

He was born and raised in Clovis, but he has spent time living in other places, including Lubbock and in Mexico in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua.

Davis shared a bit about his life on Wednesday.

Q: You were born and raised in Clovis. Tell us about how your family came to be here.

A: My mom was born and raised here. My dad's father, my grandfather, was stationed here at Cannon Air Force Base in the 1960s.

Q: Tell us about your family.

A: I'm very blessed to have a great family.

My parents raised my sister and I with Godly values.

My parents are still together, which is amazing.

Altogether I had a great upbringing.

Being a husband and father is my favorite part of life.

My wife and I have a 2-year-old, a 10-month-old and one on the way.

Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I wanted to be an astronaut, but I pursued other paths.

I began my work life.

I was disinterested in school. I wanted to start making money.

Q: What is your career now?

A: I consider my primary role to be a husband and father.

I work at Aztec Title as a policy officer.

I have a part-time job as director of Life Wise Clovis.

Q:

What is Life Wise?

A: It's an amazing opportunity to bring Bible-based character education to the public school students of our community.

It started with a few schools in Ohio in 2018 and is now nationwide.

We have registration open for third through fifth grades at Highland Elementary.

Classes start Jan. 14 and will be held during lunch and recess once a week.

We hope to grow this program system-wide.

Q: What does the Bible mean to you personally?

A: I wholeheartedly believe the Bible is the word of God to the human race.

It's such an important part of my life, I can't imagine living without it.

It's where I get my world view and marching orders.

Q: So you lived in Mexico. Tell us about that.

A: I lived in Cuidad Juarez.

I loved it. I love the Mexican culture.

I met my wife there.

Q: What would be a perfect day for you?

A: Just hanging out with my wife and kids.

Q: What is your favorite aroma or smell?

A: Bacon. You just can't beat it.

Q: What's the best sandwich?

A: The one with the most meat.

There's a restaurant in Cuidad Juarez that serves a sandwich called "La Bomba," The Bomb.

I think it has five meats with several layers of each, and bread.

Q: What is your greatest accomplishment?

A: I wouldn't say I have a single greatest accomplishment, but each time I've been obedient to my Father's will, My Lord Jesus Christ, that was a great accomplishment.

Q: Describe yourself in one word.

A: Man.

It's a loaded word, really. It comes with responsibility.

Q: What is your theme song?

A: "Bad Words" by Disciple.

I feel like it describes well my outlook.

Q: Where is your favorite place to travel?

A: I went to Ireland with the Eastern New Mexico University band.

I loved the views. They say Ireland has like 40 shades of green there. That's true.

The people were very nice and hospitable.

Q: Where in this world would you like to go that you haven't been yet?

A: To the Holy Land.

There's a lot I'd like to see.

Q: If Bryan Davis had a fantasy dinner get-together, who would be there? What would you chat about? What's being served?

A: When I read Isaiah chapter 25 it paints a picture of such a dinner.

I dream about the banquet that's being prepared in the afterlife.

To think that I will actually be able to break bread with Jesus is absolutely mind blowing.

There is going to be millions of very interesting people and the food is going to be out of this world.

Q: What is your favorite saying, quote or Bible verse?

A: I have a few.

I'll just say Romans 1:16.

"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
