Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The Ute Water Pipeline Project has a fresh infusion of $20 million in a loan/grant agreement from the state of New Mexico.
The news came at the December meeting in Clovis Thursday of the board of the Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority, the agency that is overseeing the construction of the pipeline from Ute Reservoir to various municipalities in the area as well as Cannon Air Force Base.
In other business, the board approved plans, specifications and construction bid packaging for the part of the pipeline called Raw Water 1A.
That section will run from the intake at Ute Reservoir southward 14 1/2 miles.
The board also approved the purchase of a piece of property just south of the pipeline’s intake.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
Board members also heard a report on recent Ute Reservoir levels.
An executive session was held at the end of the meeting to discuss pending litigation, after which no action was taken.
