Clovis City commissioners on Thursday unanimously approved a restaurant beer and wine license for a downtown Clovis eatery.
The La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant on the northeast corner of the intersection of Fifth and Main streets downtown is the licensee.
La Fiesta owner Jesus Vallejo Gonzales thanked commissioners for their approval.
The unanimous vote was 7-0. Commissioner Juan Garza was not present for the session.
In other business, commissioners presented awards to two city employees.
A clock was presented to Bryan Harris, as the Distinguished Supervisor of the Quarter for his work at Ned Houk Park.
Also receiving a clock was the Clovis Police Department's Ronnie Marez for Distinguished Line Employee of the Quarter. Marez takes care of maintenance and custodial duties at CPD.
Marez has worked for the city since 1999 and at the police department since 2007.
Mayor Mike Morris also issued a proclamation declaring Jan. 20 as Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Clovis.
The commission meets again at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 16 in the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
