TEXICO – Sophomore Jett Curtis poured in 15 3-pointers and 48 points on Friday night as Texico rolled past Capitan 90-42.
Curtis tied the state record for 3s in a game, previously set by Springer’s Estavan Romero in 2016. Meantime, the Wolverines set a record with 23 trifectas, eclipsing the mark of 22 set by Magdalena in 2018.
Curtis’ other three points came when he was fouled on a 3-point try and made all three foul shots.
Texico (9-0), ranked No. 1 in Class 2A by MaxPreps, led 28-5 at the quarter and the entire second half was played with a running clock. Freshman Nathan Autrey added 13 points and junior Mason Pipkin 12.
Curtis, Pipkin (4) and Autrey (3) combined for all but one of Texico’s 3-point baskets. Junior Maverick Hawkins added the other one.
Sophomore D.J. Hawkins led the Tigers (1-9) with 12 points. Capitan ended the night with seven 3s.

Farwell 42, Canadian 32 – The Steers, down by two points at halftime, outscored the Class 3A Wildcats 23-10 in the second half to pull away for the victory.
Juniors Braddock Foster had 17 points and junior Hudson Agee tallied 15 for Farwell (17-3), ranked eighth in Texas Class 2A by MaxPreps. Both players had a trio of 3-pointers.
Senior Cooper Powell and junior Riggs Pennington, both of whom stand 6-foot-6, posted 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Tigers (8-8).
Roy/Mosquero 47, Grady 37 – At Roy, the host Blue rode 18 points from sophomore Ethan Hazen and 11 from senior Jackson Fudge to victory. Roy/Mosquero (5-5) stretched a one-point lead at the quarter to 10 by the end of the third stanza.
For the Bronchos (5-5), sophomore Zander Ciancio notched 10 points.
In Saturday boys tilts:
Lubbock Titans 46, Bovina 43 – At Bovina, the Titans overcame a four-point first quarter with a 17-5 burst in the second stanza and went on to beat the homestanding Mustangs.
Senior Gus Ketchum tallied 17 points for the Titans, including seven during a 16-11 run in the final stanza. Junior Angel Lara topped Bovina (3-9) with 13 points.
Grady 68, Bovina 2 – At Grady, sophomore Hays rush led 10 Bronchos in the scoring column with 19 points. Grady stretched its lead by 34-2 at halftime but outscoring the Coyotes 25-2 in the second stanza.
The only basket for San Jon (0-10) came from sophomore A.J. Esquivel in the second quarter.
In a Monday night matchup, Eunice (7-3) opened a 12-point halftime lead and went on to post a 49-37 victory at Dora (4-5).
