Clovis police said Thursday they have a suspect connected to Wednesday night’s homicide in custody.
Deputy Police Chief Trevor Thron said Major Crimes Unit investigators are “crossing t’s and dotting their i’s,” continuing their investigation while the suspect is jailed on unrelated charges.
District Attorney Quentin Ray said he is meeting with investigators this afternoon and expects to have more information then for an update.
Police received a report of shots fired near the 800 block of Davis Street about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
On arrival, they found a deceased male inside a travel trailer in a driveway in the 900 block of Reid Street.
"The male had a possible gunshot wound to his body," according to a police news release.
Thron said the victim’s family had not been located Thursday morning so his name was not released. “He is a transient from another state but has been living in Clovis for about a year from what I have heard,” Thron said.
Wednesday’s slaying marked the second homicide in the city this month. Clovis’ first homicide of 2025 occurred early in the morning of Jan. 11. Two teenage boys were arrested and charged in connection with the death of Tony Cristan, 18
