ENMU announces promotions

SANTA FE -- Ten faculty members from Eastern New Mexico University were announced as newly promoted during Wednesday’s meeting of the university’s Regents.

The meeting was held in Santa Fe at the Hotel Santa Fe. Regents were there for the opening days of the New Mexico State Legislature’s 60-day session.

ENMU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jamie Laurenz told the Regents of the promotions.

Receiving tenure and assistant professor promotions are:

• Kaylynn Baldock in agriculture.

• Cindy Benge in reading.

• Elizabeth Lester in special education.

• Ziyi Niu in information systems.

• Tsitsi Nyabando in early childhood education.

• Pamela Shuler in music.

• Lassiter Speller in psychology.

Promoted to professor:

• Matthew Barlow in biology.

• Omar Camarillo in criminal justice.

• Michael Zhang in marketing.

In other business, ENMU-Ruidoso President Ryan Trosper asked for another capital outlay request for his campus, a regional training facility and a “burn tower” for training firefighting personnel.

The request was unanimously approved.

Regents met in an executive session to discuss three limited personnel matters. One of the three pertained to the ENMU presidential contract renewal.

No action was taken after the executive session, but it was announced that action would be taken on the matters at the Regents’ February meeting.
